Tri-State Velo

(these remarks were given by TSV Presdident, Ron Ruggiero, at the 2006 TSV Awards Banquet, on November 12, 2006)

In the past 13 years, Tri-State Velo has accomplished much that we should be extremely proud of.

Multiple national junior and senior championships
Numerous PA State and individual PA BAR Championships
World Masters Championships and record holders
Best Large Team, PA BAR for the 7th consecutive year(won it 8 of 9 years)
I hope and expect that over the next years we will accomplish even more.

Tonight is a celebration and an invitation:

We celebrate and honor our outstanding TSV teammates for 2006. We also come together this evening to share in the fellowship of the sport that is so dear to all of us.

But it’s also an invitation.

An invitation to members to become more involved in the administration and team management of this organization and to help shape its future direction and to ensure success of the goals it undertakes.

This year marks a change for the club. It marks a change for me as well. Whatever I take on, I tend to take on 100%. And although that level of commitment is necessary for excellence, it also puts a lot of pressure on a single individual. Leadership, I have learned, is about maintaining a clear vision and about appropriate delegation.

My goal for 2007 is to recommit myself to the development of our grass roots membership and to invite others to commit to helping manage the special teams and special projects of this dynamic and exciting organization called TSV.

Over our many years we have focused on a variety of different goals, each has reflected the club’s talent and aspirations as well as our sponsor’s marketing goals at that time.

This year, we will focus on expanding and supporting our membership base, with the goal of making that experience more positive and beneficial. We will continue to support our elite Junior, espoir and Sr. Women’s racing teams—but at a more realistic level that time and resources currently will allow. Specific information will be sent out with 2007 membership forms explaining this in more detail.
