Race Report from Cindy Lakatosh
Well we're back from Austria. To sum it up, Cindy did not do as well as she had hoped...but Vienna was awesome. Here's her summary...
A week after Nationals was over, everyone on the world team was sent to T-town for a preparation camp...fun,fun. Then on August 1st we all departed for Vienna, Austria, where Junior Worlds were going to be held this year. We arrived in Vienna on the 2nd, and the first thing we did was check out the track. The track was truly amazing...it was indoors, wood and it was 250m......I was in heaven! Haha...anyway...enough about the velodrome. Another reason I was in heaven was because our hotel had a gigantic mall attached to it!!! How freaking perfect is that...although we didn't really get to walk around the mall much (since we were told to stay off of our feet as much as possible) it was still neat. I met alot of people and made many new friends, but I was there to race...yes race...race my bike. Anyway...the 500m TT was my first event. I wound up placing 15th...which wasn't terrible or anything like that...I just didn't do as well as I wanted to do my first year. Next up was the sprints...I qualified 16th but lost in the first round. On the last day I had the keirin. I was really bummed about this...I didn't ride the way I know I could have or as smart as I should have, so although I managed to avoid a crash in my first heat, I just missed qualifying to move on. In my rep heat I missed out again. So to sum it up, I'm a little disappointed...but it's okay, because I realized that I still have next year to get myself a world medal...but that means that I am going to have to work harder this year...than any other year before. And it has made me more determined than ever, so bring it on. I'm going to finish out the season here in T-town, get back into the school routine and then start on my mission for next year. I'll keep you posted. Thanks for your support.
